The ex-manager of Huddersfield Town, Leeds United, Sheffield United, Middlesbrough, and Rotherham United, who has also overseen Scarborough previously, has recently joined the board of the Devon club as a football advisor.
Since stepping down from his managerial position at Aberdeen in early March after a brief tenure, the 75-year-old has been away from football. He had departed from Huddersfield in September. .
Living in Cornwall, Warnock has previously managed in the region with Plymouth Argyle and Torquay, notably rescuing the latter from Football League relegation in 1993.
Now, he will offer assistance to Torquay’s new manager, Paul Wotton, who once played under him at Argyle.
Wotton, aged 46, comes to the club from Truro City, where he previously served as an assistant manager at Plymouth.
He has inked an initial three-year contract and will officially assume his role once the Bryn Consortium takes over day-to-day operations following creditor approval of the CVA.
