With only a day left until the Buffalo Bills make their first-round selection in the 2024 NFL draft, the consensus is that they need to draft a wide receiver. The big question now is which one they will choose.
According to ESPN insider Matt Miller, he predicts that the Buffalo Bills will make a bold move to draft Rome Odunze from Washington. Miller expressed this sentiment on “The Dan Patrick Show” on April 24, suggesting that Buffalo is keen on acquiring Odunze and would be willing to make significant efforts to do so.
Miller believes that with quarterback Josh Allen leading the team, Buffalo may not have a high first-round pick in 2025 anyway, making a move for Odunze now a strategic choice for the team’s future success.
“You have the quarterback, you have the infrastructure. What you need is that rookie wide receiver, that guy making $5 million a year, who can be one of the top players in his position. So, why not go for broke?”
After gathering information from various sources within the NFL, ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler also connected Rome Odunze to the Buffalo Bills. Fowler mentioned that the Bills are actively seeking receiver help in the draft and have a strong interest in Odunze, with some knowledge of what it might take to acquire him. However, Fowler doesn’t anticipate Buffalo trading up for him, considering the steep climb into the top 10.
On the other hand, Jay Skurski from The Buffalo News advocates for the Bills to make the ambitious move. Skurski believes that while it would be costly, acquiring Odunze, a potential star with a cost-controlled contract for five years, would be worth it, rating his enthusiasm for the move as 10/10.
Analysts Consider Rome Odunze a Perfect Fit for the Bills

It would take a 2025 1st to get Odunze.”
The Bills’ recent move of absorbing a substantial dead money hit to trade Stefon Diggs to the Houston Texans suggests they may be gearing up for another significant move in the NFL draft. Despite General Manager Beane’s statement that the team doesn’t have a glaring hole after trading Diggs, many are skeptical.
With Allen’s top targets now including Curtis Samuel, Mack Hollins, Khalil Shakir, and tight end Dalton Kincaid after the departures of Diggs and Gabe Davis, the need for a deep-threat wide receiver is apparent. Beane acknowledged the possibility of trading up, noting that while they typically haven’t traded future first-round picks, they did so for Diggs, indicating they could do it again if they believe it’s worth it.
