Rubén Sellés’ Team suffered a 3-2 defeat against Burton Albion on Saturday afternoon, marking their final away fixture of the 2023-24 campaign.

Sellés expressed disappointment at the slow start, as his team conceded two goals within the first 11 minutes. He emphasized the importance of learning from this experience to enhance future performances.

“We anticipated a challenging match coming to Burton, knowing they were battling relegation. Unfortunately, in the first half, we veered away from our style of play and found ourselves trailing by two goals early on.

However, our performance improved significantly in the second half, where we dominated and created scoring opportunities. Despite this, we are disappointed with the loss and recognize the need to learn from our first-half mistakes for our upcoming matches.

The goals we conceded from set pieces were particularly disappointing. We were caught off guard for the first goal, and for the second, we need to improve our initial ball defense.”

“We gained some momentum in the game and narrowed the score to 2-1 after Lewis scored the goal. Unfortunately, we lost that momentum after conceding the third goal. However, in the second half, the team persevered and created positive situations.

Although we lacked clarity in the final third towards the end of the game, we gave our best effort. Results like these can happen, but we must ensure we’re prepared for the next match.

The second half showed improvement, a phase where they aimed to protect their lead while we pushed for goals. The team made a commendable effort to score the third goal, although it didn’t materialize. However, our focus should be on improving our performance in the first half.

Our fans were fantastic today, providing unwavering support. I anticipate a large crowd for the final game and expect a stellar performance from the team.”
